I’ve got 2 kids, Lauren and Ben, who I am immensely proud of, and despite my poor parenting skills have turned out pretty much just as they arrived… “perfect” (thank goodness for a great Mum). They are both grown up so starting to make their own way in life. They both excel in all they do, and seem to be happy as they do it, so what more could a father wish for? Answer: “Nothing”.
I'm married, but we've been separated since 2000, we've just never got around to a divorce yet... I suppose it'll happen at some point.
I like Rap and RnB music. Cats rule and dogs drool. I dislike politicians and politics in general as they annoy me more than a little.
I started writing computer software in my teens and early twenties. I wrote my first website in 1996 (too many since to count) when there was around 100,000 websites totally, there are now in excess of 1 billion. "Pop Fact: This was 2 years before Google was launched!" I suppose that in general you could say that I know a bit about computers, programming, networks, databases and websites. And I guess you'd call me a "bitliever" in bitcoin.
I love to browse the .net (who doesn't), often using TOR, and occasionally playing around with Photoshop.
I've worked in the special fastener manufacturing industry (bolts and nuts for oil rigs, nuclear power plants etc.) for most of my life, but recently have become involved in the FTTX fibre optic industry.
Life tends to throw "curve balls" at you when you're least expecting them, and just like anyone else I've had my ups and downs. But that's life I guess. Got to get busy living or get busy dying... that's Goddamn right...
I often go for drives and walks in the UK's glorious Peak District (I used to go pot-holing but getting a bit too old now - Giant's Hole was always a favourite, especially the "Giant's/Devil's Windpipe" which I often went through on my back with water lapping on my cheeks as the tunnel was so flooded!), watch the news channels (I'm a bit of a news addict and more often than not I have a browser tab open for the Drudge Report), and messing about with my other websites and blogs... just for fun.
I am somewhat of a "petrol-head", and since the 90's have had an on/off love affair with the Mazda RX-7's and RX-8's, having been fortunate enough to own a few of these wonderful rotary engined (Wankel) beauties. I have owned a variety of other sporty marques, but I always seem to come back to an RX...
I really miss this one particularly...
As you would expect, I'm a huge motorsport fan too...
As a late teen/early twenty-something, I spent many nights (and days too!) in various forests around the UK watching the Lombard/RAC Rally (and others, eg Auto Windscreens Rally) waiting to see the dance of four or more Cibies on the horizon and then hear the rumble of an engine tuned within an inch of it's life in a baby Audi Quattro, Peugeot 205T16, Ford RS200, Metro 6R4 or Lancia Delta S4 as they flew past me at incredible speeds, whilst kindly covering me in gravel or mud! I know the ins and outs of why they were banned but I kind of miss the Group B supercars, just like Formula 1 cars for off and on road, they really did have more horsepower than candle power...
These days, as an older motorsport fan, I can't think of a better way to spend a couple of hours on a Sunday than watching Formula 1 or MotoGP on the TV.
That reminds me... I should get another bike...
